Our Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees is made up of people with strategic, legal, operational management and financial skills and capabilities. In addition to our voting trustees, we also have an experienced individual who act as Advisors and they provide insight, input and support to our Board.

Leah Abrams - Founding Trustees

Leah is the founder of NESA from her own personal experience being hit by a drunk driver in 2015. She has over 15 years' experience working in the corporate world in Recruitment and volunteering both at her church and in the community in Canada, the UK and New Zealand. Along with a wealth of leadership and strategic expertise, she bring a passion and dedication to making a difference in New Zealand.

Stuart Reed - Trustee

Stuart is a Strategic Finance Professional experienced in leading Commercial teams overseas and in NZ, predominately in FMCG. A keen triathlon fan, he’s proud to have worn the Silver Fern competing Internationally in triathlon and to have completed 3 Ironman Races. As a regular Plasma Donor, Stuart has a heightened awareness that all too often emergency services rely on donors like him because of drunk driving accidents.
Stuart’s big picture understanding of business models, and General Management acumen allow him to work positively with NESA to elevate the charity commercially and subsequently amplify the messaging and change NESA affect within the community.

Chao Yu - Trustee

Chao's passion for community and social works and firm belief in making contribution whenever possible to make our community a better place. With his education background in Business and Management and years of volunteer work experiences gained through different communities orientated environment, he enjoys serving his community better by becoming one of NESA board members.

Teresa Monahan - Trustee

Teresa Monahan is a highly effective leader with a background in General Management in Retail, Distribution and Logistics. Teresa brings hands on experience across all facets of business, including finance, sales, operations, human resources, health and safety, governance and compliance.

Giving back to the community and making a difference is important to Teresa. She resonates strongly with NESA's vision and values, having been personally impacted by a drunk driver. She is also actively involved in a number of not for profit organisations and is a mentor with Business Mentors NZ.
